FAQs
-
When you book in for a session, you’ll be ask to agree to and respect our Meeting Guidelines - a link to the document will be included in your booking confirmation.
You can also click here to see a copy

We believe that self-realisation is as valid as an official diagnosis. Even if you only identify as having some traits or only meet some of the criteria, we still believe that this is a really helpful and healing space where you’ll meet other people who share similar experiences. Also, a lot of the resources and skills we share are beneficial to everyone, regardless of diagnostic status.
-
As much as we want to meet all peers where they are at, we are not qualified to provide support to people who are in active crisis, and would not recommend attending the sessions if you are highly distressed. However, there are several wonderful organisations in Bristol that will be able to help - click here for our Crisis Signposting

Go to the top of Our Meetings page
Scroll down to see available session dates, and press ‘Book’
Sessions are free to book (with an optional £3 donation). Fill in your contact details, agree to the Terms & Conditions, and press ‘Book Class’
You’ll then receive an confirmation email with the session information ˙

BPD & CPTSD Support Group Meetings are held in-person at:
St Werburghs Community Centre, Horley Rd, St Werburgh's, Bristol BS2 9TJ
As you come into the community centre you’ll see the group listings on a screen behind the front desk - we are usually based in Room 7, but please check the screen for updates.
St. Werburgh’s is easily reachable by public transport or on foot. There is limited parking available on Gatton Road.
Full advice on travel routes is available on the Community Centre ‘How to find us’ page
The venue is fully accessible. If you have any requirements that you would like to inform us of beforehand, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
-
There will be 10 spots available for each meeting, so 12 people in total (including group facilitators)
-
Attendance at our meetings is by booking only, so if you arrive without a booking and the session is fully booked, we will not be able to host you.
For first-timers and those who are not aware of the booking system, we will allow them to join the group and take the opportunity to show them how to reserve a spot for next time. This means some groups may be bigger than 12 - but we’ll manage this as much as possible.
-
We will list sessions up to two weeks ahead, and aim to have new sessions available every Tuesday or Wednesday. We recommend booking as early as possible to avoid disappointment
-
Please ensure that you book one spot per person. This will have to be done from separate email addresses
-
You are absolutely welcome to join our blended group meetings, and we would love to have you there.
However, please know that this is not a support group for loved ones. This space is designed for you to respectfully learn more about BPD and C-PTSD from those with lived experience. We kindly ask that it not be used as a space to vent or share deeply personal frustrations about your loved one, as this could feel invalidating or unsafe for peers who attend our groups.
If you’re seeking support for yourself as a loved one, we recommend exploring groups specifically designed for that purpose, such as SW Carers 4 BPD
-
We encourage peers to cancel as soon as they know they won’t be able to attend, so we can open up the spot to those on our waiting list
We appreciate that plans can change, so there are no penalties for cancellation
-
If you do not cancel your booking properly and are a ‘no-show’ for three sessions, we will contact you to discuss this, and reserve the right to refuse any future bookings
-
We will continue to list our planned holidays on the website at the top of the Meetings page via email (to our newsletter subscribers), on our Instagram page @bpdcollective, and in person at the meetings
-
Unfortunately St Werburgh's operate a no-pet policy, with the exception of service animals. We are exploring another location for a second weekly meeting, which we will ensure is pet-friendly :-)
“It is hard to be happy without a life worth living. This is a fundamental tenet of DBT. Of course, all lives are worth living in reality. No life is not worth living. But what is important is that you experience your life as worth living—one that is satisfying, and one that brings happiness.”
